Mr. Matthew McGaw comes from a multidisciplinary background. Beginning his teaching career at an arts high school in New York City allowed Mr. McGaw to see the various opportunities of teaching in an urban environment.
Using the city and the world as extensions of the classroom, students can see relevant and significant connections between the themes of what they learn in the classroom and what they learn outside of it.
Mr. McGaw deeply enjoys the idea that we can view history as its own drama, like a novel, a play, or even a myth. Film, another important medium, has done a great job of making this more and more of a reality. Specializing in areas like war literature, Shakespeare, and American history,
Mr. McGaw finds many opportunities to make connections between different mediums and perspectives.
